All Black Everything

Let’s be honest folks…

It’s been a heck of a time…to be BLACK. Black is usually used in a negative connotation unless it’s being spoken of to “slim” a person down in their video or pictures.

As for me, I LOVE BEING BLACK! Even though we’re seen as menaces to society by other races, threats to those in a police uniform, and angry/aggressive when we finally do decide to speak up (as if we only have two polars: angry or dead), while it is dangerous for us to have melanin, I STILL love it.

And not because I haven’t had experience when it comes to being on the other side of the conversation, because I have. I had guns pulled on me, by police officers, in broad daylight, fresh off of work (for the university), while in full university apparel, with my hands up, after THEY asked me for proof of insurance for my car, which I told them was in my glove compartment, BEFORE I went to reach for it.

It’s REAL out here for those of us who are Black. And yet, I wouldn’t want to be any other race. I’m a firm believer that it’s in the toughest times that my light has managed to shine. Somehow, some way, my light wasn't hid due to injustice, racism, nor privilege. And I can boldly say that the narrative doesn't change for any of us. We were all called to be the light! So KEEP SHINING!

Below is a complete breakdown of my “threads”:

  • Pants: Adidas (Black)

  • Hoodie: God is Dope (Black with accents of Red, Yellow, and Green)

  • Shacket: H&M (Black)

  • #KICKS: Yeezy 350 by Adidas (Black and Red)

I hope that this will be a constant reminder of how important YOUR light is, regardless of how dark it gets. The dark NEVER wins. KEEP the light, and you’re guaranteed to WIN every time, because darkness can’t overcome the lightEVER.
